P. Flanigan and Sons has been an area leader in heavy civil construction projects in Maryland for over 140 years. We service a wide range of transportation modalities from city streets to state highways, seaports and airports.
We are seeking experienced Equipment Operators. This position will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating a variety of construction equipment, including but not limited to, backhoes, dozers, excavators, graders, loaders, pavers and rollers. The ideal candidates will be dependable, have strong operating skills, value safety, and work effectively to support the successful completion of heavy civil construction projects.
Pay Range: $21.75 – $30.81
Benefits: Employer pays for benefits provided by the Union Health and Welfare Pension Funds. Weekly union dues are required and vacation deductions will be deducted from the employee’s paycheck.

Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain various types of heavy construction equipment
- Safely and efficiently operate equipment to perform grading, excavation, material transfer, paving, trenching, site development and other construction-related activities
- Conduct pre-operation and post-operation inspections
- Maintain equipment cleanliness and report mechanical issues for repair
- Work effectively as part of a team to ensure project goals are met
- Promote a positive safety culture and adhere to all company policies and procedures
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle
- Proven experience operating heavy equipment in construction or similar setting
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Must be to work a variety of shifts, including day, night, or weekend
- Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work in outdoor environments in a wide range of weather conditions, including prolonged walking or standing on varied terrain
Union Membership
This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement and the successful applicant will be required to join the union.
