Recycled Concrete-Graded Aggregate Base (RC-GAB) is an excellent choice for use as a stone base for roadways and sidewalks. This crushed aggregate product is durable, consistent, and economic. Also, it is conveniently manufactured in Baltimore City.
We achieve this quality by taking several steps. First, we monitor the raw materials accepted for recycling. Second, we use carefully calibrated crushing and screening equipment. Thirdly, we monitor the gradation, moisture content, and physical properties of our final product on a daily basis.
Recycled concrete is an environmentally friendly product, made from demolished structures, construction waste and other sources of broken concrete. It is a cost effective alternative for virgin stone base material.
After several years of research and development, and hard work by the quality control and materials production teams, P. Flanigan & Sons RC-GAB was approved in September 2010 for use on Maryland State Highway Administration projects.
In October 2011, the RC-GAB was certified by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) as a Green Approved Product for National Green Building Certification. This is the first crushed stone product to make the list.
Flanigan’s Green Approved Product certification can be used for LEED points.
Our AASHTO Certified Quality Control Lab performs the same tests on this recycled product as any other stone product.
This would not be possible without the partnership with the State Highway Administration’s Office of Materials and Technology throughout the certification process.
