Rainwater Collection
Thursday, December 9th, 2010As part of a project to prepare for Baltimore’s Grand Prix Race, P. Flanigan & Sons made numerous site improvements adjacent to the Camden Yards Warehouse. These improvements were made so that the site could be used as the pit row area for the Indy cars. As with many of our projects, this reconstruction created the opportunity to improve the handling of rainwater.
As part of the project, a 7,000-gallon rainwater harvesting tank was placed in Camden Yards East parking lot. The mammoth tank will collect rainwater from the roof of Camden Yards Warehouse, and will then be pumped from the tank as needed to water the plants surrounding Camden Yards. This diverts runoff from entering the Chesapeake and efficiently uses the water on site.
The top portion of the collection tank weighs approximately 31 tons and the slab that was placed atop it weighs approximately 15 tons.
