Beautification of St. Paul Street Median

Tuesday, June 12th, 2012

P. Flanigan & Sons partnered with the Downtown Partnership of Baltimore to refurbish the median on St. Paul Street. This street is one of the main arteries into Downtown Baltimore. Baltimore City donated Belgian Block Pavers which Flanigan crews handpicked and cleaned to decorate the perimeter of the median.

For this beautification project, Flanigan crews excavated approximately 15 inches of existing materials behind the curb, placed 3 inches of RC-6 and a 5 inch concrete base on which the Belgian Block Pavers were placed. Crews also added borrow and topsoil to raise the interior elevation of the median in preparation for landscaping performed by the Downtown Partnership of Baltimore. This is part of the Downtown Partnership’s long-term initiative to beautify Preston Gardens Park. Flanigan donated more than half of the cost of this project which resulted in a beautiful gateway into Baltimore’s Central Business District.
