P. Flanigan & Sons, Inc. donated time, labor and equipment to Baltimore Tree Trust in September, building tree pits to help them in their mission to restore the city’s urban forest. Baltimore Tree Trust is a Baltimore City non-profit organization committed to making Baltimore a more healthy and beautiful place to live through increased tree plantings, tree stewardship , community engagement, public education, advocacy, and research.

Flanigan’s crew worked for two weeks, removing 32 square feet of sidewalk at each proposed tree location. We built a total of 50 tree pits, and plan to build 50 more pits early in 2015. Landscapers for the Baltimore Tree Trust followed behind our work and planted trees in each pit. All of the concrete removed was recycled at P. Flanigan & Sons, Inc.’s Winchester Recycling Facility.

Flanigan is proud to continue our tradition of partnering with community organizations in their efforts to beautify Baltimore.
